Description
29 Queen Anne Street is a terraced town house built in the 1760s as part of the Portland Estate development. The building is constructed of stock brick with a stuccoed ground floor and features a concealed slate roof. It has four storeys and a basement, with a width of four windows. The entrance includes a semicircular arched doorway framed by a stucco doorcase supported by slender engaged Corinthian columns, featuring a frieze with flutes and roundels, as well as a dentil cornice. The windows are recessed sashes, with those on the upper floors adorned with stone egg and dart edged architraves, keyblocks, and apron panels below the first-floor sills. A stone bracketed cornice is present over the second floor, and the building is topped with a parapet that has coping. Wrought iron area railings with flambé urn finials add to the exterior detail. Inside, the house retains a geometrical staircase with a wrought iron balustrade in the front compartment, along with notable plasterwork, particularly in the ceiling of the first-floor front drawing room, and statuary marble chimneypieces.
