Description
This is a terrace of houses located on Wilton Street in the City of Westminster, dating from the early 19th century. The houses are constructed of yellow brick with stucco to the ground floor. The central and end pairs of houses project slightly, with a pediment over the central pair. The roof is largely hidden, but leaded mansard roofs are visible on numbers 4, 5, and 8. The terrace is four storeys high, with a basement level. Each house has a two-window front. Round-headed entrances are present, leading to various panelled doors. First-floor balconies with an anthemion design are made of cast iron. The windows are square-headed sash windows, largely retaining their glazing bars, with French casements on the first floor. A cornice runs above the third floor. Cast iron spearhead area railings are present. A commemorative plaque from the Greater London Council marks number 8 as the former residence of Henry Gray, the anatomist, from 1825 to 1861.
