Description

Nos. 17 to 19 Cockspur Street is a pair of headquarters offices built in 1907 by Sir Aston Webb. The building is constructed from Portland stone on a steel frame and features a slate roof. It showcases a lofty and restrained "Roman Mannerist" design, standing six storeys tall with a dormered mansard roof and is six windows wide.

The ground floor has a shop front from the 1970s, with the facing extending up to the sills of the first floor. The first floor is channelled and has plain square-headed windows, while the second floor features architraved windows grouped in pairs, with alternating segmental and triangular pediments. The upper floors also have architraved windows, and the attic windows are set in concave splays between piers.

A dentil cornice runs below the attic storey, topped by a heavy crowning modillion cornice. The dormers have alternating pediments, and the second and fifth floors include stone balconettes. Sculpted and coloured heraldic panels are located at the third and fourth floor levels, with cartouche plaques flanking the central pair of second-floor windows and a similar plaque directly above them. The interior of the ground floor features a wide painted frieze by Sir Frank Brangwyn.
