Description
This is a row of ten terraced houses, numbered 14 to 23, located on Chester Square in London. The terrace was planned in 1828 and construction began around 1835. The houses are built of stucco, with slate mansard roofs on numbers 14, 16, and 21. Numbers 19 and 23 have an extra storey. The arrangement is three storeys and an attic, with a basement level. Number 14 is slightly set forward and features paired giant pilasters on the first and second floors. Each house has a two-window width. The ground floors are channelled. The houses have square-headed entrances, and numbers 19 to 23 include projecting Doric porches. First-floor balconies are decorated with an anthemion pattern. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, with French casements on the ground floor. There is a cornice above the second floor, and a smaller cornice above the third. Cast iron railings with a spearhead design are also present. The return to the right side of the terrace is of architectural interest. This terrace forms an integral part of a planned development.
