Description
This building, located at 23-47 Grosvenor Gardens in Westminster, is a block of purpose-built flats designed to resemble a palace facade. It was constructed around 1868 by Thomas Cundy III. The structure is made of red brick with stone dressings and features shaped slate mansards, showcasing a French Renaissance style. It has four storeys, an attic mansard, and a basement, with a total of 23 bays. The central five bays and three bays at either end project slightly, topped with pavilion roofs. There are entrances at the center and ends, with additional subsidiary entrances in between. The ground floor is marked by rusticated piers, and the windows on this level are plate glass set in "Caernarvon" arches. Above, the windows are square-headed, except for those on the second floor, which are round-headed with pediments. The building is adorned with cast iron window guards, a rich cornice, and iron cresting along the ridge. Dormers are present, some framed in oval surrounds and others with pediments.
