Description
Nos 1 and 2 Garden Court, located in Middle Temple, were built in 1885 by St Aubyn and showcase a Neo Elizabethan style. The buildings are constructed of red brick with stone dressings. The east front features eight gabled bays, rising four storeys with a basement and attic. Stone moulded string courses run at the ground, first, and second floor window head levels, with a cornice above the third floor. The centre two bays and the terminal bays have three-storey battlemented canted bay windows. Each bay is adorned with paired stone mullioned and transomed windows. The eight identical triangular gables contain attic windows. The entrances are modest, featuring doorways beneath four-centred arches with rectangular labels. The roof is tiled with grouped stacks that have prominent oversailing courses. The gabled end elevations include a wide battlemented canted bay window on the south end. Rainwater heads are decorated with an Agnus Dei and are dated 1885.
