Description
Middle Temple Hall is a Grade I listed building located in Fountain Court on the south side of Middle Temple, dating from 1562 to 1573, though it has undergone significant alterations and reconstruction since then. The structure is built of red brick with stone dressings and features two oriel windows at the west end, along with a louvre on the roof.
Inside, the hall boasts a richly carved hammer-beam roof and an ornate screen, complemented by stained glass windows from the 16th and 17th centuries. The basement is situated at ground level on the south side. Additions, including an entrance tower, were made in the first half of the 19th century in the Tudor Gothic style, constructed from yellow brick with stone dressings and a slated roof. The hall was formerly a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
