Description
No. 22 Pembridge Square is a detached villa built between 1852 and 1856. It features a stucco exterior and a slate roof, rising three storeys with an attic-mansard and a basement. The building has three main bays, with a central entrance flanked by Doric half columns and later 19th-century glass. There is a canopy over the steps, and the ground floor has channelling. Each side of the entrance has canted bay windows that extend through the ground and first floors, topped with balustraded parapets. There are ground floor balconies for each bay window. Ionic pilasters are positioned between the first floor windows, while Corinthian pilasters flank the corniced second floor windows. Most windows are square-headed, except for those on the second floor, which have rounded upper corners. The windows are sashes with plate glass. Above the second floor is a dentil cornice, and the attic storey has been altered to include five windows. This villa is an integral part of the planned layout of Pembridge Square.
