Description
No. 21 Pembridge Square is a detached villa built between 1852 and 1856. It features a stucco exterior and a slate roof, rising three storeys with an attic-mansard and a basement. The villa has three main bays, with a central entrance flanked by Doric half columns and a later 19th-century glass canopy over the steps.
The ground floor has canted bay windows on each side of the entrance, which extend through the ground and first floors and are topped with balustraded parapets. There is a ground floor balcony for each bay window. Between the first floor windows are Ionic pilasters, while Corinthian pilasters flank the corniced second floor windows. Most windows are square-headed, except for those on the second floor, which have rounded upper corners. The windows are fitted with sashes and plate glass.
A dentil cornice is present at the second floor, and there is a balustraded parapet that connects three round-headed corners, with the outer corners pedimented and the inner one corniced. This villa is an integral part of the planned layout of Pembridge Square.
