Description
This is a detached villa located on Pembridge Square in London, constructed between 1852 and 1856 as part of the planned layout of the square. The house is built of stucco with a slate roof and extends over three main floors, an attic-mansard, and a basement. It features three bays. The central entrance is distinguished by flanking Doric half columns and a later 19th-century glass canopy leading to the steps. The ground floor is channelled. Canted bay windows rise through the ground and first floors on either side of the entrance, each topped with a balustraded parapet, and a balcony is positioned on each bay window. Ionic pilasters are placed between the first-floor windows, while Corinthian pilasters frame the second-floor windows, which are corniced. The windows are square-headed, except for those on the second floor, where the upper corners are rounded. Sashes with plate glass are used throughout. A dentil cornice sits above the second floor, supporting a balustraded parapet that connects three round-headed dormers; the outer dormers have pediments while the inner one is corniced.
