Description

The John Law Baker Memorial Drinking Fountain, located in the churchyard of St Martin-in-the-Fields, is a disused drinking fountain that was installed in 1866. It is made of marble and features a rectangular plinth with fluted basins at both ends, which are now infilled, supported by attached pedestals. At the center, there is a rectangular pedestal adorned with a large patera on the front face and intricately carved lion masks on the sides above the bowls. The pedestal is topped with a fluted broken column. The fountain includes an inscription in memory of John Law Baker of the Madras Army.
