Description

A terrace of houses on St George’s Drive, Westminster, built in the mid-19th century. The houses are constructed of stucco, with a hidden roof. They extend over four storeys, with a basement and an attic containing a mansard roof. Each house features three windows closely spaced. The end pairs of houses project slightly forward. The front has Doric projecting porches and a triglyph frieze. The ground floor has panelled doors. A continuous balustraded balcony runs along the first floor. First-floor windows are square-headed and flanked by Ionic columns, with the central window of each house topped by a pediment. Second-floor windows are flanked by pilasters and have cornices. The windows are sash windows with plate glass, and some are French casements. A decorative frieze sits above the second floor. A console cornice runs above the third floor, although it is damaged on numbers 22 to 26 and 28. Balustraded parapets remain on numbers 30 to 34. Original cast iron area railings are present. The buildings are included in the listing primarily for their contribution to the group value of the area.
