Description
No. 8 Cleveland Row is a terrace house that dates back to the late 17th century but has been altered in the early and late 19th century. Originally constructed of brown brick, it was stuccoed in the early 19th century and features a slate roof. The building has four storeys, a basement, and a dormered mansard roof. The second floor is likely from the early 19th century, while the third and attic floors are from the late 19th century.
The house is five windows wide, with a central doorway framed by a reeded architrave. The windows are revealed sash types without glazing bars, and the first-floor windows have been altered to French casements. The ground floor is channelled, and there are quoins and sill bands. A dentil cornice and a balustraded parapet, which is interrupted by dormers, adorn the top. An early 19th-century cast iron verandah with a tent roof is present on the first floor. The second and third floor windows feature Gothic style balconettes. Significant internal alterations were made in 1934. The building also has a two-bay blind return.
