Description

Eaton House is a detached house in a terrace format, situated on a corner site within the City of Westminster. Dating from the mid-19th century, it is constructed of stucco and stands four storeys high, with an attic mansard roof. The house faces onto Eaton Square, presenting a three-window facade, with a one-storey, one-bay porch projecting to the left, and a five-bay return to Eaton Gate. Rusticated quoins are present, and the ground floor is channelled. A projecting Doric porch provides access, and a balustraded balcony adorns the first floor. The first-floor windows are set within pediments. Cornices mark the second and third floors, with architraves above the ground floor and square headed windows. The windows are sash windows with plate glass, and French casements open onto the first-floor balcony. A cornice and foliated frieze sits above the third floor. Dormers are finished with segmental pediments, and the roof features stucco finals. Cast iron area railings are present. The house is an integral part of the layout of Eaton Square.
