Description

This is a terrace of eight houses, numbers 45 to 52 Mount Street, built between 1891 and 1893 by John E. Trollope as part of the Grosvenor Estate's redevelopment of Mayfair. The buildings are constructed of red brick with stone banding and dressings, topped with slate roofs. The design incorporates Queen Anne and Jacobethan architectural styles.

The terrace is arranged symmetrically with four main storeys, a basement, and gabled attics. Eight major window bays define the facade. Doorways are recessed and accessed via brick and stone voussoir arched porches. The fenestration varies; four houses are slightly advanced and feature rectangular stone bay windows extending from the basement to the second floor. They also have mullioned windows above the doorways and to the third floors, finished with Dutch gables. The remaining pairs of houses have shallow canted stone bay windows, topped with triangular gables. Casement windows are present throughout. Prominent stone-capped chimney stacks add to the appearance. Stone string courses and sill bands curve around the bay windows, and the property is surrounded by cast iron area railings.
