Description
Number 85 and the flanking gate piers are located on Page Street in the City of Westminster. This building, constructed between 1928 and 1930, was designed by consultant Sir Edwin Lutyens as part of the Westminster Housing Scheme for the Grosvenor Estate. It features a Neo-Georgian style, constructed from Portland stone ashlar and grey brick, with a slate roof.
The structure is a single-storey pavilion with flanking gate piers. Its front has three sections, with a central glazing bar sash window and fixed glazing bar windows on either side. The windows are set within a stone architrave that returns with similar sash windows. The building is articulated by deeply channelled piers and quoin piers, topped with an architrave frieze and a pyramidal roof that has a crowning finial. The flanking gate piers, made of ashlar, have ball finials, with the left-hand pier of the pair abutting Tothill House.
