Description
The Church of All Saints, built in 1874 by G.E. Street, is a Grade II* listed building designed in the Early English style. It features a nave, aisles, and transepts constructed from yellow stocks with stone dressings, and has tile and slate roofs topped with a ridge turret. The interior is made of red brick with a black brick pattern. Inside, there is a four-bay arcade supported by octagonal stone piers, which hold stone and red brick banded arches. The nave has a painted timber waggon roof with timber trusses, while the choir showcases stencilled decoration on its timber waggon roof. The reredos is decorated by R. Spencer Stanhope.
The church is notable for its outstanding quality stained glass by Morris and Company, including a three-lancet west window from 1883, an east window from 1876, as well as two-lancet aisle windows and two baptistery windows from 1877, which are designed as lobed roundels. The building is graded II* primarily due to its exceptional glass.
