Description

The area railings at 17 and 20 Alie Street, built in the late 18th century, are notable for their brick construction, with the ground floor featuring a stuccoed parapet and a tiled mansard roof. A stucco band runs along the sill height of the first floor. The building has three storeys, a basement, and dormers, with an arched entrance to Half Moon Passage located in the center of the ground floor. The ground floor windows of Nos 17 and 20 are all sash windows, most of which have glazing bars, while the top two floors of No 20 feature casement windows. The entrances are panelled doors with round-headed, recessed designs in the passage, and No 20 includes a fanlight. The wrought iron railings are topped with urn finials. Nos 9 to 25 (odd) form a group with Nos 28 to 44 (even).
