Description
Nos 57 and 59 on Mansell Street, built in the mid-18th century, are notable for their yellow brick construction accented with red brick dressings. The building features rusticated stone piers at the sides, a cornice with a cove below a panelled parapet topped with moulded stone coping, and moulded stone strings between the floors. It stands three storeys tall, with basements and attics, and has five windows on each floor, all set under segmental arches with stone keys. The centre windows are distinguished by stucco architraves and panels below the sills, located in a slightly projecting bay that contains the entrance. The windows are recessed. No 57 has a rendered ground floor facade and altered ground floor windows, along with a doorcase that features fluted Doric columns and a broken segmental pediment.
