Description
The Knave of Clubs Public House, located at 25 Bethnal Green Road, was built in 1880. It features grey brick construction with a rounded corner and end rusticated stucco bands. The building has a bracketed eaves cornice above a panelled frieze and a blocking course with a raised section above the corner. It stands three storeys tall, with two windows facing Bethnal Green Road and three windows facing Club Row. There are labels above the windows and an enriched band below those on the first floor. The windows have stucco architraves, and the pub front includes a modillion cornice above. Below the windows, there is wooden panelling, and the interval pilasters have composite capitals with elaborate end stops. A corner lamp is also present. Inside, there are large original Victorian wall advertisements for various brands of spirits.
