Description

This is an early 19th-century house with a shop, rebuilt at the rear and restored to its front in the later 20th century. The building is constructed of brick, with a timber shop front, a gateway, and moulded stone details above. It is three storeys high and has four bays, with a gated archway entrance on the left side at ground level, which leads to a yard at the rear. The shop front features a double door and large windows on either side, each with a decorative fanlight of radiating metal bars. The windows also have altered grilles. Oval Corinthian pilasters are positioned between the openings, supporting a bracketed wood cornice that extends across the front of the building. The left-hand entrance has double gates made of vertical wooden grilles, shaped with a hollow curve, and panelling beneath and to the sides. The first and second floors feature flat, gauged-brick arches above revealed sash windows with glazing bars. At the time of survey, the interior was derelict, but much of the 19th-century interior remains.
