Description
Mary Sheridan House, part of a terrace of three houses, dates from the early 18th century and is now an administrative complex. The building features a mix of reddish and yellow brick, with stucco bands and a slate mansard roof that has dormers behind a brick parapet. It has three storeys, an attic, and a sunk basement, with three bays. The timber doorcases have pulvinated friezes and console bracketed modillion cornices. The doors are six-panelled and recessed in panelled jambs with cornice heads, while No. 13 has decorative patterns on its fanlight. The windows are revealed sash types with glazing bars on all floors, and the second-floor windows of No. 13 are in flush boxed frames. There is a stucco band above the ground and second floors. The interior has not been inspected. The property includes cast-iron area railings with urn and spearhead finials, which are dated 1852. Historically, these houses were originally for the receiver of No. 11 and the minister of No. 13 of the old St Thomas's Hospital. Together with Nos 15, 17, and 19 (not included), they now serve as administrative offices for Guy's Hospital.
