Description
Pond House is a house that has been subdivided, dating from the mid-18th century with later alterations and additions. It is constructed of red brick and features a coped brick parapet above a stone cornice, topped with a slate roof. The building has two storeys, a basement, and an attic, with the main (east) elevation consisting of three bays. The central bay is taller and slightly projects forward, featuring a pediment with an oculus in the tympanum. There is a Venetian window on the first floor set within a large, round-arched recess, and a canted bay at the ground floor and basement level. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are topped with flat, gauged-brick arches, and there is a brick band above the ground floor. The north return side includes a semicircular porch in the left-hand bay supported by Doric columns and a panelled back, with a door that has pilaster jambs and a decorative fanlight. An early 19th-century wing extends to the south, along with later additions to the rear. The interior has not been inspected. Notably, there are iron handrails leading to the steps.
