Description
Laurie Terrace is a terrace of 21 houses built in 1842, designed by WR Glasier and TJ Crawley. The terrace is located on the south side of St George's Road, Southwark. It is constructed of multi-coloured stock brick with stucco dressings, featuring a stucco cornice and blocking course, with a brick parapet above. Stucco pilasters are present at the corners of the terrace and between the houses.
The terrace is three storeys high with a basement. A central section is slightly higher and projects, marked by quoins (Nos. 123-127), with a similar arrangement of paired houses at each end (Nos. 105-107 and 143-145). A tablet above the centre reads "Laurie Terrace".
The ground floor features doors, some of which have been replaced with windows. These have pilaster jambs, cornice heads, and oblong fanlights flanked by taller pilasters. The ground-floor sash windows have glazing bars. The first-floor casement windows, which are within stucco architraves, and those in the central section, have cornices. A balcony with cast-iron railings is situated on the first floor. The second-floor sash windows, also with glazing bars, are topped with flat, gauged-brick arches. The interior of the terrace has not been inspected.
The terrace is accompanied by later scale pattern cast-iron area railings and some cast-iron window boxes.
