Description
The Boleyn Public House is a public house built between 1899 and 1900, designed by W G Shoebridge and H W Rising. It is prominently located on a corner and features red brick construction with pointed stone or stucco detailing. The ground floor is distinguished by red polished granite pilasters. The building rises to 3½ storeys and has three bays on both frontages, with a lower extension facing Green Street. Each front has a large Flemish gabled dormer. An octagonal corner turret topped with an ogee dome and finial adds to its architectural interest. The windows are mullioned and transomed, and the first floor is supported by rusticated Ionic columns that hold up enriched segmental pediments. On the second floor facing Barking Road, there are three rusticated segmental arches for the windows. The interior is notable for its plasterwork and glass features.
