Description

Nos 160 to 166, Lewisham Way, are a pair of mid-19th century houses built of multicoloured stock brick with stuccoed fronts. They are two and a half storeys high, with a basement, and each has two windows in the central block, beneath a low-pitched slate roof with eaves soffits. A slightly set-back, two-storey section with a parapet contains a single window and acts as an entrance link. Pilasters on the main block’s axis and at its angles support an entablature at the second-floor sill level, which extends across below the links' parapets. The windows are sash windows with margin lights; the second floor has plain reveals, while the first floor windows have moulded architraves and bracketed sills. The ground floor features panelled pilasters, a frieze, console bracketed cornices, and projecting sills with ornamental cast iron guards. The double doors, consisting of four panels and a plain fanlight, are deeply recessed behind a round arch with a moulded architrave and impost string. Nos 160 to 186 (even) are considered to form a group.
