Description
Folly Tower is located in the back garden of Number 23 Liphook Crescent and dates from around 1880. This octagonal three-storey tower is constructed from ironstone random rubble with freestone dressings, which include quoins, a drip mould at the first floor level, bowtell moulding at the second floor, and a corbel table supporting a low parapet, although the parapet is damaged. The tower features an octagonal staircase turret and small, empty windows that have hollow chamfered elliptical stone arches set in chamfered square frames, with a two-light window on the ground floor. There is also a square doorway topped with a hoodmould. The structure has curiosity value.
