Description
Livesey Hall War Memorial is a war memorial designed and executed by Sydney March from Famborough, Kent, and was unveiled by the Right Honourable Lord Robert Cecil in 1920. The memorial features a lifesize female figure of an angel in bronze, with arms outstretched upwards and wings spread horizontally. This figure stands on a bronze ball entwined with serpents, which is set on a wreathed base, all resting on a semi-circular stone plinth. There are three steps leading up to vertically set limestone slabs, which are topped with 'Anthemion' scrolls and flanked by simple volutes. On each side of the slabs, bronze plaques are affixed, commemorating the employees of the South Suburban Gas Company who lost their lives in the First and Second World Wars.
