Description

This is a row of six houses, numbered 170 to 184, located on Lewisham Way, now recognised as being in the SE4 postcode area. They were built in the mid-19th century. The six houses are arranged as four linked pairs, constructed of multicoloured stock brick with stuccoed frontages. Each house has two-and-a-half storeys and a basement, with two windows in the central block under a low-pitched slate roof with eaves soffits. The outer houses are slightly set back and have two storeys with one window. Pilasters are present on the main block's axis and at the angles, supporting an entablature that continues under the parapet of the linking sections. The windows are sash windows with margin lights, with plain reveals on the second floor and moulded architraves and bracketed cills on the first floor. The ground floor features panelled pilasters, friezes, console bracketed cornices, projecting cills, and cast iron ornamental guards. The front door is a double door of four panels, with a plain fanlight, set back behind a round arch with a moulded architrave and impost. A string course runs along the front. Nos 160 to 186 (even) form a group.
