Description

This is a row of early to mid-18th century terraced houses, with alterations, located on the southwest side of Tranquil Vale.

Number 29 is a two-storey, single-window property with painted brickwork and a parapet. It has a gauged brick arch over a first-floor sash window, set within a flush moulded frame. A mid-to-late 19th century shop front has been added to the ground floor, incorporating panelled stallrisers.

Numbers 31 and 31A are two storeys and an attic, with three windows each. They feature a rounded mansard roof, renewed with modern tiles and incorporating two square dormers. The facade is of multicoloured stock brick with a parapet. The mid-19th century sash windows have vertical bars and are set within flush, moulded frames, each with a gauged flat red brick arch. A circa 1900 shop front is on the ground floor.

Numbers 33 and 35 are also two storeys and an attic, with three windows each. They are similar in appearance to numbers 31 and 31A, but have a slated roof and a shop front dating to the third quarter of the 19th century, which has been altered.

Numbers 3 to 35 (the odd numbers) create a notable group.
