Description

This is an early 19th century building of four storeys and two windows, situated on the south side of Stamford Street. It has a return to Duchy Street with a blank elevation above the ground floor. The building is constructed of stock brick with a stone-coped parapet and horizontal bands delineating the second and third floors. It features sash windows with glazing bars, the first-floor windows having elongated proportions, all set within gauged flat brick arches. A three-bay shop front, dating from the mid-19th century, is present, resting on a cornice. Fluted engaged columns with leafy capitals sit upon projecting plinths, incorporating panelled stallrisers, and support the shopfront fascia and cornice. The ground floor entrance has been modernised and is located on a canted angle. A one-bay return features a shop, beyond which are two doors and a single-storey extension. Spade-headed area railings are present in front of this section.
