Description
The fountain and six lamp posts at Dorchester Court are located in the central gardens of a block of flats, dating from the early 20th century. The six cast iron lamp posts are set on brick and concrete plinths, arranged symmetrically with three on each side of a rectangular garden plot that features a round fountain. The concrete plinths have curved ends and conceal a brick electricity chamber underneath. The fountain, designed in an art deco style, consists of a series of concrete shells atop a concrete plinth, with a large saucer bowl also made of concrete. These features are an integral part of the moderne design of the 96 flats that surround the central courtyard of Dorchester Court.
