Description
The Clapham Common War Memorial is a tall Celtic cross constructed from roughly hewn granite. It stands on a pedestal formed from two granite slabs of unequal height. The upper slab is inscribed with the words "TO / THE MEN OF CLAPHAM / WHO DIED FOR ENGLAND / 1914 - 1919," and the lower slab bears the dates 1939 - 1945. The names of those who died in the First World War are recorded on two separate plaques affixed to the nearby church, which is listed separately.
