Description
The stable yard, located to the west of Chelsea Gate Roadway at the Royal Hospital, was built between 1814 and 1817 and designed by John Soane. It is constructed of yellow brick and consists of two storeys arranged around a courtyard. The facade features three bays, with a central arched entrance set in an arched reveal. On either side of the entrance are arched windows and entrances, also in repeated arched reveals. There are two chimneys with stone acroteria. To the left and right, there are one-storey lodges topped with pyramidal slate roofs, each featuring central arches flanked by niches.
