Description
The Tomb of Colonel Robert Ellison, who died in 1843, is located in Kensal Green Cemetery. It is made of Carrara marble and features an eared sarcophagus set on a stepped base. The sides of the tomb are adorned with swords and wreaths, while the north end displays a relief of a palm, sword, sash, and wreath. The inscription indicates that the tomb was erected by the Duke of Wellington and the officers of the Grenadier Guards, with whom Colonel Ellison served at the Battle of Waterloo. This tomb is an exceptional example of a Neo-classical military memorial.
