Description
The tomb of Captain the Honourable Sir Henry Duncan, who died in 1835, is located in Kensal Green Cemetery. It features a sarcophagus made of grey granite with battered sides resting on a stepped base. The front of the tomb has an inscription in block capitals, positioned below a cavetto cornice. The upper section is decorated with a relief depicting a gun barrel, a sword, and the Union Jack. Sir Henry was the son of Admiral Viscount Duncan and served as the principal storekeeper at the Board of Ordnance, overseeing military supplies. This tomb is an early example of a cemetery monument constructed from this material.
