Description
A pair of terrace houses dating from around 1835, built by Christopher Howey for Rice Ives, a wine merchant and landowner. The houses are constructed of stock brick and extend over three storeys, with a basement and attic. Each has two windows across the front, featuring sash windows with glazing bars beneath gauged brick heads. The front doors are panelled and are topped by rectangular fanlights with oval tracery. Number 51 retains its original dark window sashes and has moulded architraves around the ground floor windows. Number 50 displays an English Heritage commemorative plaque dedicated to Evelyn Underhill, a Christian philosopher and teacher. The interior has not been inspected.
