Description

A range of terraced houses at 29-38 Lansdowne Crescent, dating from 1860 to 1862 and designed by H Wyatt. The houses form a continuous terrace, with a bow-fronted central section flanked by paired houses, each with a flat facade. The terrace is four storeys high and includes a basement level. Each house is two windows wide. The exterior is stuccoed, with vermiculated rustication to the ground floor. A continuous iron balcony, shaped like a bombe, projects forward over an Ionic porch on the first floor. Individual cornices and bracketed cills are present on the first and second floor windows. The flanking houses have segmental pediments over their second-floor windows, quoins to the corners, and a balustraded parapet, which survives on Nos 27 and 28. Area railings are also present. The building is part of a unified architectural scheme that includes Nos 19-28.
