Description
This is a block of flats built in 1938 by E Maxwell Fry, with a penthouse flat designed by R Myerscough Walker. The building is constructed of buff brick and takes the shape of an 'L', with a short wing at the rear. It rises four storeys, topped by the penthouse. A horizontal access balcony is present on each storey, with recessed windows and entrances, and the back walls are decorated with blue tiles. The penthouse is recessed and features porthole windows, alongside a panel of glass bricks to the left. An advanced staircase tower is situated on the right-hand side, featuring a canopied entrance below. To the left, windows are level with the wall. All windows are metal framed. The balcony balustrades are a mix of open and solid sections, forming a decorative pattern. Tubular steel railings enclose the roof terrace. The rear elevation is also notable.
