Description
Number 24 Kensington Park Gardens is a large house built around 1854 by Thomas Allom. It stands four storeys tall, plus a basement, and is three windows wide with a symmetrical design. The exterior is stuccoed, featuring channelling on the ground floor. A central entrance portico with twin columns is accessed by steps, and there are segmental bays on either side that rise through the basement, ground, and first floors. A continuous bombe balcony runs along the first floor, and there is a heavy consoled cornice between the second and third floors, topped with a crowning cornice and blocking course. To the west, there is a single and double storeyed extension. The front is enclosed by a balustraded boundary wall. Inside, the first-floor rooms, designed in a lavish 'French' style, are remarkably well-preserved. This house is part of a symmetrical group with Nos 36, 38, and 40 Ladbroke Grove.
