Description

This is a late 18th-century terraced house with an attached workshop front, located in Clerkenwell Close, Islington. The house is built of brown brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with the roof hidden behind a parapet. It is three storeys high and has a three-window front. The left-hand side features a recessed entrance to the house, with a cornice above and an overlight window. The remainder of the ground floor is occupied by a wooden workshop front, likely dating from the late 18th or early 19th century, and seemingly retaining its original design. The upper-floor windows have cambered arches and contain 8/8 sash windows, some of which are original. The brickwork of the first and second floors has been substantially renewed. The shopfront represents a relatively rare survival of its type in the local area.
