Description

Numbers 15-19 Great Percy Street are a group of three terraced houses built around 1839-1841. They were likely designed by William Chadwell Mylne, who was the Surveyor for the New River Estate. The houses are constructed of yellow stock brick with banded stucco to the ground floor, stucco dressings, and brick stacks. The roofs are hidden.

The houses are arranged with a side-hall entrance plan and are three storeys high, with two windows to each house except Number 15, which has an additional altered portico extension. Low steps lead to the entrance in the left bay, featuring a doorway with pilaster jambs, a corniced head, a four-panelled door (a 20th-century replacement at Number 19), and a rectangular overlight. The windows are 6/6 sash windows throughout, with gauged brick flat arches above. A stucco sill band runs along the first floor, which features full-length architraved sash windows with console-bracketed cornices. The architraves and details have been removed from Numbers 17-19. Each window on the first floor also has an individual cast-iron balcony. There is a stucco cornice and blocking course at the top of the facade. The houses include attached cast-iron railings with finials. The buildings are included on the list for their group value.
