Description
Number 8 is a mid-18th century terraced house located on Hornsey Lane. It is constructed of plum brick with red brick dressings and features a roof that is obscured by a parapet. The house has three storeys over a basement and a three-window range.
The entrance is flat-arched and includes a doorcase with panelled reveals, a cornice, a decorative fanlight, and a panelled door that retains its original design. There is a wooden prostyle porch adorned with palm-leaf capitals, vases, and arabesques on the frieze and dentil cornice. All the original windows have heads made of gauged red brick.
On the ground floor, there are two narrow windows flanking the porch and a single-storey 19th-century canted bay window. The first floor features two Palladian windows on either side with a narrow flat-arched window in between, which may indicate the original layout of two narrower houses combined into one. The second floor mirrors this arrangement with lunette windows and a narrow flat-arched window between, along with one flat-arched window that has been inserted.
To the right, there is a recessed unwindowed wing. The house has a parapet and side stacks. Additionally, there are railings with spearhead finials leading to the basement steps.
