Description

The houses at 2 and 4 Hornsey Lane are a pair of mid- to late 18th-century terraced properties in Islington. They are constructed of brown brick laid in a Flemish bond pattern, with roofs of Welsh slate. The buildings are four storeys high, each with two windows. Number 2 is noticeably wider than number 4. A flat-arched entrance to the front features a wooden doorcase with consoles and a pediment. Number 2 retains only the consoles. The fanlight above the door has intersecting tracery, and the panelled door itself is original to the design. The ground floor window openings of number 2 have partly unmoulded frames, while the ground floor opening of number 4 has a moulded frame set within a flat arch. A parapet tops the building, and dormers are visible in the mansard roof. A stack is located on the party wall between the two houses.
