Description
3 and 5 Theberton Street are a pair of terraced houses with shops at ground floor level, dating approximately to the 1830s, with later alterations likely from the late 19th or early 20th century. The houses are constructed of yellow brick laid in a Flemish bond pattern, with the roof hidden behind a parapet. They are three storeys high, each with two windows.
Number 3 has a shop front dating from the late 19th or early 20th century, with a fascia that echoes earlier mouldings from number 5. Number 5 retains elements of an early 19th-century shop front, featuring a flat-arched entrance on either side, pilasters decorated with incised panels and lozenge patterns, overlights, and a panelled door to the left. The right-hand end of the fascia is curved and has a moulded cornice. The upper windows are flat-arched with gauged brick heads; those on the first floor are set back under a round arch of gauged brick. The second floor of number 5 has 6/6 sash windows. The houses are topped by a parapet.
