Description
The Electricity Board Office and Showroom, built in 1938 by Slater, Moberly and Uren, is a Grade II listed building located on the east side of Broadway in N8. It is part of a group of buildings surrounding a small green, which includes Hornsey Town Hall and Broadway House.
The building features light pinkish brick and has a stone-coped parapet, rising to five storeys. The west part has nine bays, with a projecting entrance bay on the right that is framed by a stone architrave. Above the entrance, there is a long window and a carved brick sculpture representing light. The right section, which is set back, has a projecting ground floor with long windows on the ground and first floors. The top floor is mostly blank, except for narrow stone panels above the first-floor windows. The showroom on the ground floor of the left section extends around the corner to the main road.
