Description

The Clock Tower, built in 1895, is a substantial square tower located on Crouch End Broadway. The bottom plinth is about 8 feet high and made of rusticated stone, which supports an upper plinth banded in red and white stone. The tower is stepped at the top and constructed from square red brick in three stages, crowned by a drum with angle turrets and a dome made of pale terra-cotta. A vane sits on top of the tower. The main tower features an arcaded lower stage with slit windows, a middle stage with a narrow window, and clock faces framed in baroque carved brick on the top stage. The Clock Tower has significant landmark value.
