Description
Broadway House, built between 1936 and 1937 by Dawe and Carter, forms part of a group of buildings around a small green, alongside Hornsey Town Hall and the Electricity Board building. The building is constructed of light pinkish brick with stone dressings. The western section is two storeys tall and has five windows, with a canted corner facing the main road and a three-bay return. The tall first-floor windows are framed by architraves, with carved relief panels beneath depicting the uses of gas. A modern showroom occupies the ground floor. The three-storey, four-window section to the left is plainer and features a corner entrance within a rusticated architrave. The building is finished with stone-coped parapets and flat roofs.
