Description

The Church of St Stephen the Martyr and St Thomas was built between 1849 and 1850 by the architect Salvin. It is constructed of rubblestone with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof. The church is designed in the Decorated style and has a square, buttressed northwest tower topped with a low copper spire, which replaced the original spire that was removed. The church has a four-bay nave with a clerestory and a lower chancel. The main entrance is located in a porch on the northwest side. The windows are two-light with geometrical or flowing tracery at the heads. Surrounding the church is a rubblestone wall that encloses the churchyard.
