Description
Hurlingham House is a substantial building dating from 1760, with later alterations and additions. It is currently occupied by the Hurlingham Club. The north entrance front features brown brick and a slate roof with a parapet. The house has three storeys and three windows in the center, flanked by two-storey, two-window wings and two-storey blocks that project towards the north on the east and west sides around a courtyard. At the corners, there are domed porches with Doric coupled columns, likely added around 1900. The south front, facing the river, is made of stone and painted stucco, with two storeys and nine windows wide. It includes Corinthian pilasters and a central tetrastyle pedimented portico, which contains a recessed two-storey bow. The interior features an elliptical hall and principal rooms adorned with painted ceilings, panels, and ornamental plasterwork. There have been additions made in the 19th and 20th centuries to the east.
